Schedule of Protecting God's Children Sessions

The Diocese of Paterson requires all volunteers and/or employees who have regular contact with children and minors be approved to work by completing the following steps:
Step 1 … FIRST, you must complete and sign the Consent and Disclosure Form for an Internet Background Check given to you by your local Child Protection Coordinator. Upon completion, return it to your Local Coordinator.- If you are a School Employee/Educator, you will need to be fingerprinted as well by the NJ State Department of Education. Please see your Local Coordinator for specific forms and instructions.
- You may not volunteer/work until the Background Check is completed by the local parish, school, agency or ministry coordinator and we have documentation that your are clear of a criminal history.
Step 2 … Next, read and sign the “Code of Pastoral Conduct” acknowledgement. You are accountable for your behavior and must follow the Code of Conduct. Return the signed and dated acknowledgement form to your Local Coordinator.
Step 3 … Finally, once you have been cleared through a Background Check, you have 90 days to attend a Virtus Class – “Protecting God’s Children”. To view the schedule of classes and register, go to the website: www.virtusonline.org. On the left side of the screen, click on REGISTRATION. Start the process of registration, by following the prompts. After you have attended the class, please present your certificate to the Local Coordinator of our parishes, Terry Guarino.
